There is the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church - Tsminda Sameba in the center of Tbilisi, on the top of the mountain, named after the biblical prophet Elie. It`s the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church, the name Sameba is translated from Georgian as Holy Trinity Cathedral. Georgians calls it "the building of the century" for its monumentality and grandeur, which is often compared with the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. The opening of the Cathedral took place in 2004. The height of the upper church is 68 meters (without unerdome Cross); total area is more than 5,000 square meters. The Cathedral can accommodate simultaneously 15 000 people. Construction was built on the donations of the ordinary citizens and business leaders.
